I came into the class on a Monday and saw that we were going to be working with, every avid IT-fanatic’s favourite side-project, the great Raspberry Pi.
As an introduction to the whole course and IoT in general, we first received a rather mundane input from our substitute teacher that took way longer than I would’ve liked it to. After our actual teacher Mr. Calisto returned (you can find him on LinkedIn among other places), we were told that for the next 2 months we would work intensively with one Raspberry Pi.
For all my completed tasks with the Raspberry Pi, that I find noteworthy to share with you, I will post below.
All the material that you will need to complete the installations and the material that I specifically used can be found below.
Material | Price (CHF) | Link (CH) |
---|---|---|
1x Raspberry Pi Model 3B+ | 39 | Raspberry Pi Modell 3B+ |
1x Power Supply 5V | 17.90 | Netzteil microUSB (5V-25A) |
1x Ethernet Cable (3m) | 12.40 | Cat. 6 Ethernet Cable (3m) |
1x microSDHC-Card 32GB | 27.70 | Sandisk microSDXC 64GB |
The version of the Raspberry Pi that I used is quite old and you can easily upgrade it to the Model 4, so that it comes equipped with either 1, 2 or even 4GBs of RAM and the latest technology such as Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 5, 1x USB-C along with the standard 2x USB2.0 and 2x USB3.0 ports. The Ethernet port has also been upgraded so it can handle even fibre-optic speed up to 1000Mbit/s.
